I like the post (if that's what you call this), entertaining and informative. Not being one to blog, twitter, rarely email unless I have to, I often wonder what this constant need to be in the online world has done or will do to people and their relationships/relations? I like to think that my very-happy life and great sex life has everything to do with NOT spending one minute online outside of work. Aside from that, great article. Happy Twitter Trails to you All. Won't see me there.

Did video kill the radio star. Not sure it did. Twitter is great and has lots of advantages over blogging but people blog for very different reasons. Twitter can tend to reduce people to looking for a quick hit, find something fast and get the instant response. For me the nirvana of blogging is to have a large following base (which I dont), and lots of feedback (which I also dont get) but although they would be nice does not stop me from blogging. Although it takes longer it helps in articulating things we see and observe and in crafting a reasonably long post you get clarity and insight that the quick fix from twitter does not deliver. Sure its a case of one supplementing another.

It amazes me how quickly things can change. In the last month, Twitter has become so popular. The value in twitter is in idle chat and getting immediate updates from breaking stories. Blogs are for writing. If you're aim is an ego-massage or reaction from fellow bloggers, then twitter offers instantaneous gratification. If you want to write and debate, then blogging is the way to go. Just my two cents.

Twitter may be a happy pill but surely posting a blog is like soldiering your way through a nasty pint of Guinness - it takes longer than it should, it doesn't taste very nice and as soon as youve finished it you regret it. Good post though Mark Ham, entertaining as always, nice Bond reference.
