Potbelleed DJs and Slimmed-down airlines

thepotbelleez-new4.jpg

Two very disparate interviews this week. The first was with two Dublin-born DJs, the Potbelleez, currently taking Australia by storm and earning themselves kudos back home too. They’re signed up for the Electric Picnic, so check them out there if you’ve got a ticket. They’ve worked with the likes of Groove Armada and their ilk recently, so the boys done well. Otherwise pick up a copy of the Irish Echo (unless you’re our ‘friend’ from Melbourne) and read all about them. Note to my story-stealing buddy: If quotes from this issue appear anywhere, I’m releasing the hounds.

Second was an interview with Alan Joyce, CEO of Aussie budget carrier 400alan_joyce0.jpgJetstar and a proud graduate of Kevin Street DIT. Mr Joyce (pictured right, from SMH a few years back) showed me around their Melbourne offices on Friday, and we discussed how he’s spent the last four years creating an airline from nowt but a hunch. Very interesting guy, and an interesting company – not just a Ryanair transplant.
